The wonderful thing about living on the Pacific Coast is that the winters are usually mild with very little snow. This means that outdoor activities are still available year round with minimal out wear. One of our families outdoor activities involves the fire pit in the back yard.
Our fire pit is set up year round, and although we do not use it every night or during the summer months when the Valley is under a fire ban, we get regular use out of it at other times. Tonight is no exception. This time though it is my son and his friends who have commondeered the backyard and are enjoying the fire light and the endless stars in the night sky. For them it is a time to visit, laugh, relax, reconnect for no cost. And to take a stick and poke at campfire flames like when they were little. Sometimes marshmallows even appear to make the picture even more complete. Regardless, the fire pit stands for connection, laid back visiting and companionship for our family. I will be making a point to always have one. And if you are ever in the neighbourhood….
One little chair for one of you, and a bigger chair for two more to curl up in, and for someone who likes to rock, a rocking chair in the middle
