The beginnings

This is the beginning of a pierced paper quilt I am working on. I discovered this method a while ago but never tried it until once I’d found an effective hexagonal template. The reason I’ve wanted to try this method is because it is entirely portable (if I so choose). It recycles pieces of cloth that are only 1 1/2 x 1 1/2. And it is easy and mindless to do. This is just the start, but I will be sure to keep you up to date on any more pieces that get added.

This picture is the piece as it is now.  The photo above was taken last week. I’ve got a ziplock bag of over 75 hexes sewn that need to be placed once the colour scheme is worked out.  From the research I have done it shows this as a craft that became popular in England during times of austerity and hardship when they had to “use what you have”.
