Finally!

Port Alberni to Cumberland
The Sunday Route

Today was a good ride day and YES I was able to get on the bike today.  A group of us left Port Alberni and headed up and over the Alberni Summit (aka “The Hump” by the locals) and headed to the east coast of Van Isle.  We met up with another rider at the Beach Hut in Qualicum and headed north along the old Island Highway.  The day was clear and sunny, the water of the Pacific was blue, the traffic was light and the bikes ran well and ate up the miles

The 6 of us traveled to Cumberland, BC., stopped at the Waverly Pub for lunch and for some excellent Blue Grass music by the live band then headed back on the Inland Island Highway.  After lunch we discovered the road to Comox lake – then headed back home via the Slab.

A total of 230km round trip.  A good start to the season and a good start in getting seasoned enough for 500km+ in the saddle for the Prairies trip.
