Things here on the coast during the month of June are usually unsettled. This is the time of year when the weather decides to change hourly, rain mostly and keep you guessing as to whether you are going to end up drenched or dry.
As well, at time time, the highways are still a mess from winter. There is still junk and hazards on the side of the road, yearling deer and moms with fawns trying to cross well traveled roads, making life oh-so-much-more interesting. This is the time of year when most of the riders who have been parked, dust off their steeds and hit the roads. Sometimes thats a good thing – more motorcycles on the road mean more cagers are aware of us. The flip side, of course, is that the steeds have been parked for 5 – 7 months and the riders are rusty in their skills. Interesting times for all concerned. And sometimes the accident numbers reflect this. Of course there is also the facet that more people are taking to two wheels, whether that be scooters, pedal bikes, or motorcycles because of affordability. The more people on two wheels – the more the numbers are skewed that way. Too bad the insurance companies take advantage of that and hike the rates based on the accident rates.
Either way – it’s riding weather out there. BE CAREFUL!
See you in the wind.
