While I don’t really like the hype that Harley Davidson employs with their advertising campaigns (and yes, I do ride a Harley) I have to give the R & D people and the marketing people kudos. If nothing else, they know their stuff. While more manufacturers are going bigger, Harley made the move to produce a 500 and market it. A few weeks ago I saw their 500 at the Vancouver Motorcycle Show and was suitably impressed with the bike, but also with the idea behind the bike. Harley is going after the commuter market. Brilliant move on their part. With big road bikes and baggers designed for those long highway trips, these commuters are affordable, manageable and perfect for short jaunts.
