(Long time no hear.
It has been a while since I have had my ‘butt in the chair’ so to speak. There have been a number of reasons for that. Firstly, – as you all well know – life gets in the way. Secondly, and this is the most influencing one, that my old computer (aka the clunker) was over 8 years old and on it’s last legs. This means that for the past 2 years I have been making most of my posts on a mobile device or a laptop. All good alternatives, but the display options have not been up to par.
Enter, The Husband. (Cue superhero theme music) Hubby needed a new computer because his was over 4 years old and the newer games on the market were not running on his ‘antiquated’ machine. A number of years ago his machine was the top of the line for gaming and as we all know, 4 years in computer time is a long time. So – Hubby got a new computer and I ‘inherited’ his old one. For a gaming machine it is old. For a word processing machine, which is essentially all I do on mine, it screams along. woohoo Go me. So I’m up and running again.
Here we go. )
Women. Motorcycle. The two words when entered into an internet search engine that have seen the return results changed and evolved in the last decade.
When I first started riding over 10 years ago, when I entered Women- Motorcycle in the browser window, the pictures that came up were the typical ‘women as a decorative accessory’ type picture. In fact, when you enter those two words in the foxfire browser, this is what you get:
That’s right. An assortment of women riding a bike or as a graphic on a tank.
So imagine my shock when I was reading an article in a fairly reputable website advertising interactive visibility motorcycle jackets and found myself staring at a picture of 3 young men, with the women displayed in various stages of attire and obviously placed as arm candy. Just when I think everything is okay and that things have actually progressed, this sort of things jumps up and smacks me in the face.
It’s all good though. It’s all okay because this sort of idea/persona is becoming fewer and further between displays.
And now I will let you get back to our regularly scheduled graphic.
~Travel safe. Ride well my friends.~
