It’s that time of year again. It’s the Iron Butt Rally time.
I did my first Iron Butt Saddle Sore (1600km in 24 hours)in 2022 only because I said that when I first got my motorcycle license that I would do an Iron Butt before I turned 60 – and well I turned 60 last year. ( see previous blog posts about this ride). I have to admit – I’m kind of hooked on them now.
It was along the way I came across mentions of this Iron Butt Rally thingy. As I read more and more about it, I got more and more intrigued. The about a month ago, I got excited. This was an event that perked my interest.
Fast forward to these past few days and as I am reading more about it, I am marvelling at all the riders and how well organized this appears. From the maps, sign-ins and all the information I’m reading on the website – I’m hooked! There is even a live mapping so you can see where all the riders are at any given time. Speaking as a woman who only gets mildly charged about Hockey (I am Canadian, it’s kind of a birth right), this has my very excited!
The only downside is that this will be taking place during the week and my boss will be in the office – so I won’t be able to watch the live feeds during work hours. (Insert snarky face)
On other fronts, I m not getting too much riding in because my community is semi isolated behind a highway blockage due to a forest fire that has cut off the highway. Gas is rationed and the only way I’ve – a logging road – is listed as ‘essential traffic only’. I’m doing my part, but it just means that this year the ride plans are shelved until we can get out. Although I love my new bike, she is not meant for pounding down logging roads.
It’s all part of the game of life.
Take care my fellow riders. Ride Well. Travel Safe
