Quick blast

Haven’t been on the bike much lately so when the weather report states “30% chance of showers” that actually equates to “70% chance of sunshine”. I posted online to a local group of women that my plan was to go to Englishmen River Falls Provincial Park for a picnic lunch – and away I went. The temp hovered around the 12 degree Celsius mark which was a bit nippy on the highway, and required the plug in vest until I got to the top of The Hump and the found the sun! From there is was smooth sailing. Traffic was good and moved through Cathedral Grove (unlike in the summer where the pace is torture – as in 40kph is an 80 kph zone). Thankfully tourist season is behind us.

Turning off highway for to the old Alberni Hwy and through Coombs with it’s Goats on the Roof and Mushroom festival, I travelled on towards the Errington turn off. Down the road and alongside the fields, I felt the need to stop to take a photo on the side of the road.

Into the parking lot, then find the picnic shelter and park myself on the tables until the rest showed up. I hunted around to see if I could find a power outlet, but no such luck.

All in all a great blast. Unfortunately I see another one on the horizon in order to reach my goal of putting 10k on the odometer after losing from June 6 – September long weekend of riding season due to the highway being out because of forest fire activity.

Onward and upward. Insurance is on the bike until Feb 2024.
