The other day I was sitting on the motorcycle it in the left turn lane waiting for the light to change when another cruiser came up and stopped at the same red light in the right lane. It was a “cool dude” with a blacked out bike (very popular name brand) with said name stenciled on every piece of clothing he wore – but that’s not the point. The point of this blather is that at first I thought he was singing. But as the light was a long one, it soon became apparent that the fellow was actually carrying on a conversation. It took me a few seconds to realize he was wearing a 1/2 helmet and was speaking through his blue tooth. Actually more than just carrying on a conversation – he was in the midst of an argument with someone name sharon he was rather intimate with. It got me thinking – aren’t motorcycles supposed to be the symbol of freedom? What can be so free if you are answering your phone while traveling? Are you really so addicted to connectivity that you have to be “on” all the time?
So I guess I have to ask the question: What do you, the reader, thing of this bluetooth-in-the-helmet thing? Is it the way of the future? An aboration against nature? Something you can not live without?
