Day 2 dawned hot and humid in Osooyos. We loaded up and headed out at 7:30 for breakfast at Smitty’s in Osooyos. We headed out of town just before 9am and headed up the spectacular climb with the tight twists and turns.
Today was the day of ‘many stops’. The scenery was gorgeous and the more I travel this province the more I realize what a beautiful province I live in. It has it’s quirks as well. Our first stop was in Greenwood. On the way there was the first quirk of the day. Along the side of the highway was quite a few km offense posts. On top of each of the posts was a baseball hat that had been nailed there. Classic! Leaving greenwood, we traveled further east.
We stopped in at Castlegar for lunch at Boston Pizza. You can always get good food at Boston Pizza. Leaving Castlegar, we hit the road again. Traveling east the second quirky was seeing an actual El Camino up on blocks in someone’s front yard just outside of Yahk. Dan and I laughed about that for hours.
Heading through the moot enacts and the river bottoms the weather stayed warm for us until we got just outside of Fernie. The wind coming off the mountain was crisp and cold. A perfect end to the day.
Supper was at a bistro right beside the Three Sisters hotel we stayed at. Good food.
At night we sat by the bikes, chatting – pouring over maps – debating which route to take – and meeting new people in the surrounding hotel rooms.
The end of a satisfying day!
